The Flying Fox has been available for multi-millionaires to charter trips at the cost of more than US$3 million a week. News media report its last booking was made by Jeff Bezos, of Amazon fame. The ship said to be Russian-owned is docked at the Don Diego terminal, on the western side of the Ozama River, a short distance from the Columbus Alcazar and many other attractions of the Colonial City. There is no date for the leaving of the Flying Fox, also described as the world’s largest and most expensive yacht that has been available for charter. Reports are now that the ship is held in coordination with the US Homeland Security Investigations agency.
The Lürssen-designed superyacht is 136-meters long. It has six deck, towering 32 meters above the waterline. Its 11 cabins have all the comforts one can imagine.
The Dominican Republic Armada has disassociated itself from the alleged investigations involving the luxury yacht Flying Fox anchored at the San Diego terminal of the San Souci port in the capital, according to Noticias SIN. Presidential Legal Advisor Antoliano Peralta told Noticias SIN that the case is being handled here by the Customs Agency, Ministry of Foreign Relations and the Attorney General Office.
