Presidency, Attorney General and Finjus in favor of a Ministry of Justice

Attorney General Miriam German Brito took advantage of her rendition of accounts to advocate for the creating of a Ministry of Justice. Antoliano Peralta, legal advisor to President Luis Abinader, and Servio Tulio Castaños Guzman of Finjus, have also spoken in favor of the new entity.

After considering it essential to unify efforts to address prison overpopulation, the Attorney General of the Republic, Miriam German Brito, spoke up in favor of the Presidency creating a Ministry of Justice to take control of the management of the penitentiary system and forensic services, among other tasks that she says transcend the role of the Public Prosecutor’s Office that falls under the Attorney General Office jurisdiction.
