
Participación Ciudadana, the Dominican chapter of Transparency International, elected accountant and tax expert Joseph Abreu as its general coordinator for 2022-2023. Abreu works as tax and payroll manager at the private firm, Fiducial-IBS. He has been a member of the institution’s National Council, the Scientific Committee of the Dominican Republic Tax Association (Atrird), the National Council of Tax Consultants (Conaci), and the International Fiscal Association (IFA).
A press release from the civic movement indicates that Abreu had joined Participación Ciudadana in 2016. At the time of his appointment, he was serving as a member of the Ethics, Transparency and Internal Control Committees at Participación Ciudadana.
“The role in my management as new coordinator of Citizen Participation will be one to give continuity to the actions for the strengthening of democracy in the Dominican Republic, in favor of the institutionalism and the integration citizens, where we demand together greater rights and commitments of the political players in the country”, Abreu says in the press release announcing his new position.
The members of the Participación Ciudadana board are now: Danilsa Peña Medina, Diego D’Aniello, Isidoro Santana, Miriam Díaz Santana, Naomi Rodríguez, Nora Elizabeth Sánchez, Sarah Jorge and Willy Montán.
