
The Dominican Republic’s emerging women’s soccer team defeated more experienced Bermuda 1-0 in its quest to grab a spot in the Concacaf W Championships. The DR now is tied with Jamaica in Group C. The Group C countries are Jamaica, Grenada, Bermuda and the Dominican Republic.
The DR-Bermuda game took place on Friday, 7 April 2022 at the Felix Sanchez Olympic Stadium in Santo Domingo. The DR next travels to Jamaica to break the tie in the World Cup qualifiers. The game is on 12 April 2022.
The Dominican Republic now sits atop Group C with goal differential currently breaking a tie with Jamaica. The winner of group goes on to the next stage of qualifying in Monterrey, Mexico, beginning 4 July.
The 2022 Concacaf W Championship is the Concacaf qualifier to the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand and the football tournament at the 2024 Summer Olympics in France.
