David Villa comes to promote soccer

The legendary Spanish soccer player, David Villa is visiting this Friday, 22 April 2022 to promote the sport and his DV7 Academy Santo Domingo. Villa is the top scorer of the Spanish national team. He has played in three World Football Cups, including the team that won the World Cup 2010 played in South Africa. The DV7 Academy opened in 2017.

The director of the Santo Domingo academy is Orlando Yánez Santana. Yánez Santana told Diario Libre that it will be the third time that Villa visits. He said Villa will look into new ways to deepen the impact of DV7 in Dominican soccer with the local partners at the DV7 Academy.

Villa’s agenda also includes attending the try-out that LaLiga Española de Fútbol will hold Saturday, 23 April at the DV7 facilities in northern Santo Domingo. This is a window for young Dominican talents to develop into world-class players.

Villa, 40, retired in 2019. He played for FC Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, Valencia FC, Real Zaragoza, Sporting de Gijon in Spain, Melbourne City FC in Australia, New York City FC in the United States and Vissel Kobe in Japan. With Barsa he won the 2011 Champions League.

The DV7 Soccer Academy has branches in the United States (New York and San Diego), Canada, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Spain, China (n Hong Kong) and Japan.

Based in New York and founded shortly after Villa’s arrival in MLS in 2015, DV7 Soccer Academy offers high-performance development and school programs, soccer camps and clinics.
