PUCMM commits to train Haitians in hospitality

The Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra (PUCMM) will be offering courses and training to students of the Ecole Hôtelière Marie Auxiliatrice (EHMA) in Haiti. The two higher learning centers agreed to train Haitian students in hotel management and gastronomy with PUCMM certifications.

According to a press release, PUCMM will teach courses in Haiti to EHMA students.

The innovative program was kickstarted months ago through internships at the NH Haiti El Rancho hotel in Pétion-Ville. This hotel complex has made its facilities available for this laudable purpose,” reported the Dominican Embassy in Haiti.

The diplomatic mission reported that the agreement seeks to facilitate talented young people from the EHMA finding jobs in Port-au-Prince. It is also seen to contribute to the development of Haiti’s inbound tourism.

PUCMM rector Reverend Father Secilio Espinal Espinal and Monique Bellegarde, director of the EHMA signed the agreement. The Dominican ambassador in Port-au-Prince, Faruk Miguel Castillo, served as witness.

The EHMA is a prestigious Catholic institution founded in Port-au-Prince by Salesian nuns.
