Kazakhstan is the largest country in Central Asia and the ninth-largest in the world. Kazakhstan is a former USSR republic that is bounded on the northwest and north by Russia, on the east by China, and on the south by Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, the Aral Sea, and Turkmenistan.

During the event, President KIassym-Jomart Tokayev of Kazakhstan remarked on the current political times, describing these as “the most transcendental of the last three decades”. The statesman commented on the hard test that Covid-19 meant for the world, and now the growing tension in international relations and how it negatively impacts world development.

Kazakhstan is the second-largest economy in the Eurasian Economic Union, with over 18 million people.

Ambassador Dannenberg Castellanos conveyed President Abinader’s greetings to his Kazakh counterpart and stressed the will to deepen diplomatic and trade relations.

Dannenberg Castellanos explains that the accreditation of a concurrent ambassador to Kazakhstan reflects the interest of the Dominican Republic in expanding ties with the countries of the Asian heartland. He explains that this is part of a strategy to boost trade and tourism, taking into account the geopolitical changes in Eastern Europe and North Asia.

According to the Dominican ambassador, in recent years, the country has already signed several cooperation agreements with Kazakhstan. Likewise, the Dominican Republic has received thousands of Kazakhstan tourists in the recent past.
