New ambassadors from Guatemala, Peru, Indonesia, Czech Republic, Belgium, Portugal, Serbia, Saudi Arabia

President Luis Abinader received the letters of credence of the new ambassadors from eight countries at the Presidential Palace last week. This is the letter that designates a diplomat as ambassador to another sovereign state.

President Luis Abinader was accompanied by Vice President Raquel Peña and Deputy Minister of Foreign Relations Jose Julio Gomez, representing Foreign Relations Minister Roberto Alvarez.

The new ambassadors are Javier Antonio Zepeda Herman, Guatemala; María Cecilia Rozas Ponce de León, Peru; Nana Yuliana, Indonesia; Petr Kaván, Czech Republic; Jean-Jacques Bastien, Belgium; Joao Jose Gomes Caetano Da Silva, Portugal; Danilo Pantovic, Serbia; and Faisal bin Falah Al-Harbi, Saudi Arabia.

The ambassador of Guatemala, Javier Antonio Zepeda Herman was a consultant in business strategy, politics and public affairs with coverage in the Latin American region.

The ambassador of Peru, María Cecilia Rozas Ponce de León has been an ambassador and director of Drug Control of the Multilateral and Global Affairs Agency in her country. She has served as ambassador in Paraguay and consul general in Canada.

The ambassador of Indonesia, Nana Yuliana was consul general in Houston, United States. She is ambassador concurrent in Bahamas, Cuba, Haiti and Jamaica. She is based in Cuba.

The ambassador of the Czech Republic, Petr Kavan was deputy director of the Department of the Americas at the Ministry of Foreign Relations.

The ambassador of Belgium, Jean-Jacques Bastien is ambassador to Cuba and Haiti. He is specialized on development issues, focusing on issues related to the private sector engagement for sustainable development.

The ambassador of Portugal Joao Jose Gomes Caetano Da Silva was head of mission in Mexico.

The ambassador of Serbia, Danilo Pantovic served as director of the North and South Americas Department at the Ministry of Foreign Relations of Serbia. He is concurrent with Cuba.

The ambassador of Saudi Arabia, Faisal bin Falah Al-Harbi headed the Political Department of his country’s Embassy in Moscow, Russia. He is also ambassador in Cuba.

At the end of the ceremony, on the esplanade of the Presidential Palace, the notes of the national anthems of each country represented by the new ambassadors accredited to the Dominican government were played.
