180 packages of cocaine seized at Caucedo

The National Drug Control Agency (DNCD) continues to capture more cocaine in transshipments scheduled through the Multimodal Caucedo Port in Santo Domingo province. The authorities report a recent aborted shipment of 180 packages found in a freight container at the Multimodal Port of Caucedo. The container was in transit through the country. Its final destination was Canada.

According to the analysis of the National Institute of Forensic Sciences (INACIF), the would-be shipment was of 187.80 kilograms of cocaine.

The Public Prosecutor’s Office, the DNCD and government intelligence agencies have been seizing multiple shipments at the port in recent weeks, most destined for Europe. The authorities have redoubled interdiction operations against national and international drug trafficking, managing to thwart the smuggling of at least 11,706 kilograms (11.7 tons of drugs) during the first four months of 2022.
