Police chief Major General Eduardo Alberto Then visited the parents of Jose Gregorio Custodio on Sunday, 24 April 2022 to ensure justice would prevail in the case of their son’s death on Sunday, 17 April. He said the entity was but awaiting the autopsy results. The family accuses the Police of beating Custodio to death in the San Jose de Ocoa police quarter. News reports are that he was first detained for violent aggression of his spouse.
Nevertheless, Listin Diario reports that the autopsy at the National Institute of Forensic Sciences (Inacif) in Azua is taking too long. As reported in Listin Diario, Francis Valdez Gomez, chief prosecutor in the province, said that tests are still pending.
The Ocoa de Pie Foundation, Inc. condemned the death of Custodio and joined the clamor of wide sectors of the Ocoa society that demand justice for those responsible for the beating death of the young man, who died in the San Jose de Ocoa public hospital, after he was taken there in serious condition from the police station in San Jose de Ocoa.
