Dominican ambassador presents credentials in Mongolia

Dominican Ambassador Hans Dannenberg Castellanos became last week the first Dominican to present credentials to the government of Mongolia in north central Asia. The Dominican Republic established diplomatic relations with Mongolia on 27 May 2010, but an ambassador had yet to present credentials. Dannenberg Castellanos is based in Moscow, Russia.

Mongolia is a country of 3.5 million inhabitants located in north-central Asia. Its capital is Ulaanbaatar City.

Ambassador Hans Dannenberg Castellanos presented his credentials to President Khurelsukh Ukhnaa of Mongolia. Mongolia is a country of 3.5 million inhabitants, rich in natural resources, and measuring 2,392 km from west to east, and 1,259 km from north to south.

Dannenberg Castellanos explains that the accreditation of a concurrent ambassador to the state of Mongolia, reflects the interest of the Dominican Republic in expanding ties with the countries in central Asia, as part of a strategy to boost trade and tourism. The strengthening of ties considers the geopolitical changes happening in Eastern Europe and North Asia. The DR sees potential for export for Dominican products.

According to the ambassador, Mongolia has advanced a lot in terms of technology, agricultural industry, mining resources and above all has improved its indexes in terms of human development.
