Azua and Baní bypasses to be ready before 2024

Public Works Minister Deligne Ascención told Listin Diario editors that the Abinader administration has allotted RD$17 billion to construct 100 km of bypasses. The bypasses are part of road works covering 725 km nationwide underway and are expected to be completed before the end of the present government term in 2024.

Some 429 are road works covering more than 725 kilometers and will connect various regions and provinces of the national territory, Ascención explained in a visit to the Listin Diario. He said that 83% of these projects are already underway and several will be completed this year.

He mentioned the Azua Bypass will be ready by August 2022. He said the Baní Bypass in Peravia province is 60% advanced. He said 10 four-lane bridges are under construction in Peravia and are expected to be completed by March 2023.

Ascención said that all the southwestern ring roads that are under construction and most of the road projects will be delivered during the course of this year and the beginning of next year.

He said these and other projects are part of the connectivity strategy designed for the southern region, which seeks to reduce the travel time to the southwest by about an hour.
