
The Boston Celtics defeated the Miami Heats, 100-96 to advance to the finals of the NBA Eastern Conference. The Boston Celtics will play in the NBA Finals for the first time since 2010 after the win in game 7 on Sunday, 29 May 2022 night.
Al Horford, “the old man” will finally get a shot at a title. The Dominican-American basketball player had held the record for most playoff games (141) played without reaching the NBA Finals. But with Boston’s win on Sunday that streak is over and the veteran forward now has his first shot at a championship. Horford had made the playoffs 13 times out in his 15-year career and had reached the conference finals three times.
After closing out this best-of-seven series 4-3, the Celtics now advance to the 2022 NBA Finals to face the Golden State Warriors, with Game 1 taking place on Thursday, 2 June.
Al Horford had the honor of receiving the Eastern Conference Championship trophy for the team. He attributed to “grinding, we stayed with it, we believed in each other, we made a commitment on the defense end,” the win of the Eastern Conference Championship.
