Judge Pablo Imbert Rosario ordered 12 months preventive custody to five of the seven persons accused in the start of the hearings into the death of David de los Santos, one of the most brutal to make recent headlines. De los Santos was tortured when in custody of the Naco police detachment.
The civilians Santiago Mateo, Michael Perez and Jean Carlos Martinez are accused of brutally beating De los Santos who was handcuffed in the same Naco temporary jail. The men were sent to Najayo and La Victoria jails.
Police captain Domingo Rodríguez and second lieutenant German García were ordered to serve preventive custody at the Special Operations jail of the Police.
The judge ordered domiciliary arrest for corporal Alfonso Decena and rookie San Manuel Gonzalez. The family of De los Santos protested the home arrest measure for the police underlings as these appear in a video making fun of De los Santos when fellow inmates brutally beat him when he was handcuffed in the cell.
