The Ministry of Public Health issues Resolution 0020-2022 mandating three Covid-19 vaccine doses for the population over 12 years of age. The resolution establishes the pre-established times and that the doses be mixed.
An optional booster dose (fourth dose) is available for people over 18 years of age, with priority for the population over 50 years of age, health care workers, and those with special health conditions should get the fourth dose, four months after the third dose.
The director of the Epidemiology at the Ministry of Public Health, Dr. Ronald Skewes insists that there is not a fourth wave of Covid-19. He says there has been a slight increase of cases, especially in those under 20 years of age.
“Still the indicators remain the lowest worldwide and are not significant to announce a resurgence of Covid-19, but we must be careful, especially regarding the segment of the population that are those who are testing positive,” he said.
Dr. Skewes recalled that the circulating variants are Omicron and Delta and that these present different symptoms.
He advised that people to continue to use masks in crowded places.
