
The National Council for Social Security ruled that it is illegal that hospitals require that patients who are affiliated to health plans leave a deposit before receiving emergency services.
The National Social Security Council (CNSS) issued a press release mandating that healthcare service providers desist from the practice of demanding deposits or advances from family insurance affiliates as a guarantee of payment to provide emergency medical assistance. This practice is prohibited, says the CNSS.
