The National Energy Commission (CNE) signed the definitive concession agreement for Energia Renovable BAS SRL to build the 50-MW/73.2-MWp Washington Capital Solar Park 3. The company will invest US$80 million in the project. The power is sold to the national electricity grid.
The solar farm concession is for 25 years and is to be located in Mata de Palma, San Antonio de Guerra municipality in Santo Domingo province.
Energia Renovable BAS is an affiliate of California-based private equity fund Washington Capital Global Finance.
Edward Veras, executive director of the CNE, said that with the Washington Capital Solar Park 3, there are now 14 renewable energy projects approved in the Abinader administration. Of these, three have been completed and 11 are under construction. He said this means that by 2030, 30% of the power demand will be supplied by the renewable energy source.
