
President Luis Abinader met with his cabinet and worked on the 2023 budget over the weekend. The staggering 13 number figure of the total budget (RD$1,214,606,007,369) is the second straight trillion peso budget of the Abinader administration.
It appears that the $1.2 trillion peso budget will include a 3% deficit. This is similar to this year’s deficit which is at just 3%. The tax burden for 2023 is pegged at 14.7% of GDP, which is close to that of 2022.
Faced with the uncertainty of the world economic scene, the Abinader administration has set its sights on dealing with infrastructure projects, social programs, reforming the National Police and electricity and fuel subsidies.
