Vice President Raquel Peña swore in Pavel Isa Contreras on Monday, 11 July 2022 as Minister of Economy. He replaces Miguel Ceara-Hatton who was named Minister of Environment.
The new Minister of Economy, Planning and Development, Pavel Isa Contreras says he is committed to continue to implement the design of public policies aimed at raising the quality of life of people and the exercise and understanding of their full rights as citizens.
Isa Contreras says that the main challenge of the Dominican economy is that the economic growth experienced in recent years be transformed into greater levels of opportunities for the people.
“The greatest challenge of this government, and of all governments, whether in good times or bad, must be for the population to feel the growth in their pockets and in the provision of quality public services,” said the economist and university professor.
The new head of the governing body of planning and public investment committed to work to provide quality of public policies and the implementing of sectoral policies in a coordinated and well-thought-out manner.
“Transformations in development do not happen alone, but in a coordinated action, thought and driven with a continuous and measured follow-up. This is the role of the Ministry of Economy as a fundamental entity in planning and development,” said Isa Contreras upon being sworn in by the Vice President. Outgoing Minister Miguel Ceara-Hatton was present.
