
The XXX Pan American Junior Badminton Championship opens in Santo Domingo on 14 July 2022. The tournament gathers around 350 young athletes from 13 countries. Competitions will be in the U-13, U-15, U-17, U-19 and team categories. The tournament awards 3,000 points for the world ranking.
Aruba, Barbados, Brazil, Canada, Colombia, El Salvador, Guatemala, Jamaica, Mexico, Peru, United States, Venezuela and host Dominican Republic will compete in the Pan Am Junior 2022 from 14 to 22 July 2022 at the facilities of the Table Tenis Pavilion in the Parque del Este sports venue in eastern Santo Domingo.
The event is organized by the Dominican Badminton Federation with the endorsement of the Badminton Pan American Confederation and the support of the ministries of Tourism, Sports and the Dominican Olympic Committee (COD).
Competing for the Dominican Republic are the leading junior rackets — Kael Sosa, Michelle Guzmán, Ronelkis Reyes, Katherine Carrasco, Yarianna Torres and José Pichardo.
Generoso Castillo, president of the Dominican Badminton Federation and vice president of the Badminton Pan American Confederation, says the event has a touristic-cultural component. Participants are lodged in hotels in the nearby historic Colonial City and will participate in a special program organized by the ministries of Tourism and Culture.
