According to the indictment against former Attorney General Jean Alain Rodriguez Sánchez, around 18,000 fake social media accounts were created to identify detractors of Rodriguez Sanchez and staff at the PGR and induce trends, attack personalities and defend the figure of the now accused former attorney general, Listin Diario reports.
The document cites that Attorney General Office resources were used to fund a marketing team that worked to follow, harass, monitor and similarly attack journalists, opinion leaders and influencers on digital platforms.
On the list of the so-called detractors were journalists and communicators: Altagracia Salazar, Edith Febles, Marino Zapete, Patricia Solano, Sergio Carlo, Lucienne Carlo, Somos Pueblo, Huchi Lora, Laura Díaz, Daury Santana, Ricardo Nieves, and Juan Bolívar Díaz.
These opinion leaders and influencers were subjected to surveillance, attacks and harassment in social networks and defamation.
The bots unit was part of the “Social Campaigns” department with a complex structure.
