President Luis Abinader holds cabinet meeting in La Romana

President Luis Abinader and Vice President Raquel Peña were in La Romana this weekend, for the 25th Council of Ministers and meeting of the cabinet. The Presidency reports matters of health, education, tourism, finance and electricity were on the agenda. It was a first for new Acting Minister of the Presidency Joel de los Santos.

The Presidency reported that infrastructure works for more than RD$2.7 billion are under construction in the southeastern La Romana province.

The Presidency press release on the event focused on the new La Romana public hospital under construction in Villa Hermosa, for RD$1 billion and the renovations at the Arístides Fiallo Hospital.

A new manufacturing free zone was announced as a public-private alliance in Villa Hermosa.

Public Works Minister Deligne Ascención said sidewalk improvements are underway for RD$800 million in La Romana.

The government highlighted improvements at the Eleoncio Mercedes Sports Center and the Club Deportivo y Cultural Virgilio Castillo Chola and the construction of the Salado River bridge for RD$22 million.

Tourism Minister David Collado announced improvements to the handcrafts market and the La Caleta sea-fronting boulevard.
