
Believe it or not, 75 years after the Presidential Palace was built, the property title of the location is finally in the name of the government. The Presidency announced it has regularized the 25,265.35 square meter lot where the Presidential Palace is located.
Construction of the Presidential Palace began in 1943 under the Trujillo dictatorship. The government seat was inaugurated on 16 August 1947.
President Luis Abinader ordered the regularizing of the status of the property in an announcement on 13 August 2021.
Administrative Minister of the Presidency Jose Ignacio Paliza received the property titles from Merido Torres, director general of the Technical Unit for State Titling (Utect). The property titles were in a package of 68,130.32, including the site of the National Investigations Bureau (DNI).
