Latest on Medusa case: Attorney General Office bought three but never installed jail call blockers

Diario Libre reports that the Attorney General Office purchased three jail call blockers during the Jean Alain Rodríguez Sánchez term, but did not install them in the prisons. The Medusa file says a different use was given to the blockers than that established in the procurement order.

The newspaper stresses the irregularity occurred even when it was known that criminal networks were orchestrating crime from the jails using cell phones in possession of prisoners. Former Attorney General Jean Alain Rodríguez Sánchez is the main accused in the Medusa file.

The Medusa file has 12,000+ pages. Lawyers say it will take at least five years before anyone is sentenced in the Medusa case. So far, 41 persons are accused.

Meanwhile, as of today, there are no blockers installed in any Dominican jail, reports Diario Libre. The jail cell phone calling blockers are retained as evidence in the case against the former Attorney General and associates.
