
The Chamber of Deputies passed the bill that creates the National System of Protection and Integral Attention to Early Childhood and creates the National Institute of Integral Attention to Early Childhood.
The law was approved unanimously with a vote of 148 deputies who were present at the session, now it goes to the Executive Branch for enactment. The bill was a priority of the Children’s Cabinet, presided by First Lady Raquel Arbaje.
The First Lady says the bill has provisions to facilitate the expanding of the government network of childcare centers nationwide. At present, the system serves 159,228 children.
The law seeks to guarantee comprehensive care for early childhood as a means for the protection of the pregnant mother and the development of all children from zero to five years of age.
It also creates the National System for the Protection and Comprehensive Care of Early Childhood and the National Institute for Comprehensive Early Childhood Care (Inaipi). The new ruling will help coordinate policies, instruments, actions and programs, developed by state bodies, autonomous institutions, social organizations aimed at the protection and comprehensive care of children.
