President Luis Abinader sent two adjunct prosecutors he had previously named to the Attorney General Office to serve instead at the Unified Council of the Power Distributors (Consejo Unificado de las Empresas Distribuidoras de Electricidad). The decree was signed on Friday, 22 July 2022 and is the most recent of measures after a series of irregular tariff raises and major increases in wages and hiring at the Superintendency of Electricity made headlines.
Listin Diario reported that Decree 404-22 appoints Edwin Acosta Suarez and Rafael Leonidas Suarez Perez as members of the highest authority of the Electricity Distribution Companies (Edes). EdeNorte, EdeSur and EdeEste are the power distributors that send power to the national electricity grid.
The decree was not published on the Presidency website. Listin Diario says it confirmed it was issued.
In the decree, the President repeals articles 1 and 2 of governmental disposition number 333-20, that had designated the men as deputy attorney generals.
The Unified Council of the Electricity Distribution Companies is the highest authority of the Electricity Distribution Companies created by Decree 342-20 during the Abinader administration. It is also integrated by Manuel Lara, president; Tulio Antonio Rodríguez, vice-president; Andrés Enmanuel Astacio Polanco, secretary; Angel Enmanuel Raposo Flores, member; Ricardo José Gómez Canaán, member; Rubén Darío de Jesús Reynoso, member; Bienvenido Antonio Mejía, member; Luis Joaquín Miura, member and Jorge Manuel Rodríguez Daba, member.
