Will third time be the charm? Stacks of cash on the border

For the second time this 2022 a man was stopped at the frontier with a large amount of cash for which he had no proof of payment of taxes. In the latest incident, the Specialized Corps for Frontier Security (Cesfront) stopped the Haitian man with US$126,000 and RD$400,000, all in cash, and the fellow could not produce any tax receipts for the funds. Since he fit a suspicious profile, he had been taken into the parking lot at the Cesfront headquarters in Dajabon where the search revealed the massive amount of cash which was taken into custody.

At the time, the Chevrolet SUV he was driving, the money, and the individual himself were handed over to the Customs Agency for a thorough investigation.

The thing is, just slightly over a month ago, the same person, in the same vehicle was taken into custody with US$58,000 in cash for which he did not have any receipts from the DGA regarding payment of taxes. Maybe the next time?
