The Presidency has announced that President Luis Abinader will speak to the nation from the Monumento de los Heroes de la Restauración in Santiago. He will address the nation to render an account of the achievements and challenges of his first two years in government. This is the first time the traditional 16 August speech is given outside of the National Congress building.
The Presidency explained that the President will speak from a stage prepared below the statue of Duarte in the central Santiago monument.
On the schedule for Tuesday, 16 August 2022 is also the visit to Dajabón for acts commemorating the 159th anniversary of the Restoration battle.
Abinader is scheduled to have lunch with Defense Minister Carlos Diaz Morfa and other high-ranking military officials.
