With a solid game in a packed Santo Domingo Tennis Club courts, Dominican top-ranked tennis player Nick Hardt took an hour and 25 minutes to defeat Chilean Gonzalo Lama 6-2, 6-2 on Tuesday, 16 August 2022 and move to the second round of the RD Open 2022 by Milex.
The tennis courts of the Santo Domingo (La Bocha) Tennis Club are hosting competitors from around the world here for the Santo Domingo Open presented by Milex. The event is part of the Association of Tennis Professional Players (ATP) Challenger Tour and taking place 15 to 21 August 2022. The tournament has a cash prize of U$160,000.
Six of the registered players are ranked in the top 100 of the Association of Tennis Professional Players (ATP). These are Hugo Dellien (70), Tomas Etcheverry (72), Federico Coria (73), Roberto Carballes Baena (86), Pedro Cachín (90) and Daniel Galán (99).
The best Dominican tennis player of all times, Victor Estrella has left his retirement to play doubles in the tournament. Estrella had retired in 2019.
Also competing for the Dominican Republic are Peter Bertran and Nick Hardt. Bertran will play doubles with Estrella. Another four Dominicans seek to qualify through the first phase of the tournament.
The ATP Challenger Tour is a range of satellite tournaments that run alongside the regular ATP World Tour. The collection of events offers smaller venues, clubs, universities and colleges around the world the opportunity to get up close and personal with some of the world’s very best professional tennis players.
