Mario Lebrón, director of the Dirección Nacional de Bellas Artes, announced the appointment as of 1 August 2022 of Stephanie Bauger to direct the Dominican National Ballet. Bauger has been a first ballerina of the Dominican National Ballet. She is a teacher, choreographer and ballet master.
Bauger studied at the National Ballet School of Havana in Cuba under the late Alicia Alonso. She was a principal dancer in Ballet Nacional Dominicano and worked as a soloist in Ballet Argentino of Julio Bocca.
From 2011-2015, she was the ballet master and assistant to the artistic director of the Ballet Nacional Dominicano.
In 2015, she founded the youth company of the Escuela Nacional de danza, Endanza Juvenil. She also works regularly as an assistant of choreographer Annabelle Lopez Ochoa.
In 2018 and 2019 Bauger received the Dean’s Award in Florida and graduated with a Master in Fine Arts in Jacksonville University.
