The Covid-19 pandemic experience and the new remote working opportunities are boosting sales of touristic real estate in the Dominican Republic. In an interview with Hoy, executives of the Association of Tourism Real Estate Companies (ADETI) say sales now exceed US$10 billion. ADETI says that 15 major projects are under construction in Dominican tourism destinations, with more than 27,300 rooms underway after the 2020 pandemic. 4,300 rooms are under construction.

Roberto Despradel, Jorge Subero and Michael Lugo shared the findings of a recent study on the sector. The study revealed major works to increase the vacation home capacity in La Altagracia (Punta Cana) in the east, Samana in the northeast, Puerto Plata in the north, southcentral Peravia (Baní) and Pedernales in the southwest.

The Dominican Association of Tourism Real Estate Companies (ADETI) advocates for removing obstacles to receive the benefits granted by Law 171-07 on Special Incentives to Foreign Pensioners and Annuitants so that there can be even more investments in real estate tourism, impacting the generation of jobs and the entry of foreign currency into the country.
