Dominican Jeanette Limas in Making the Cut

Young Dominican fashion designer, Jeanette Limas is one of 10 designers from around the world competing in the Amazon Prime reality show, “Making the Cut.” The grand prize of the show is US$1 million. Winners also get to sell their collection on Amazon. All participants receive free mentorship with Amazon Fashion throughout the contest. The show is in its season three hosted by Heidi Klum and Tim Gunn.

The Amazon reality series was released on the streaming service on 19 August 2022 with the first two episodes now available. Two episodes will come weekly until the final two episodes of the total eight airs on 9 September 2022.

In Season 3, Limas competes against designers Emily Bargeron, Curtis Cassell, Gabriella Meyer, Ciara Chyanne Morgan from the United States; Rafael Chaouiche from Brazil; Sienna Li from China; Markantoine Lynch-Boisvert from Canada and Yannik Zamboni from Switzerland.

El Boletin Noticioso reports that Jeanette Limas was born in La Romana where she began her education at the Instituto Mercy Jacquez studying pattern-making. She later studied at Altos de Chavon Design School. She won a scholarship to study at the Parsons School of Design in New York. She showed her collection at the Dominican Fashion Week and received the award as Young Designer of the Year. She studied draping styles at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York. Today she is a full-time fashion designer. She has worked for Urban Zen of Donna Karan and Jolibe Atelier.

She has shown garments sporting her draping techniques in numerous collections at the New York Fashion Week.
