
Coach Melvyn Lopez of the national senior basketball team announced the 12 players on the Dominican roster for the 25 August 2022 FIBA World Cup qualifier. The game against Panama is to be played at the Palacio de los Deportes in the Juan Pablo Duarte Olympic Center starting at 8pm. CDN Deportes will broadcast the game for Dominican TV viewers.
The Dominican Republic needs to win this game and then the next in Venezuela to move ahead in the qualification. Indian Pacer’s Chris Duarte is a key man on the team. This will be Duarte’s debut wearing the uniform of the Dominican Republic senior basketball team.
The games against Panama and Venezuela are part of the second phase of the qualifiers for the FIBA 2023 Basketball World Cup to be held in Indonesia, the Philippines and Japan.
In addition to Duarte, the Dominican squad is made up of Andrés Feliz, Jeromy Rodríguez, Sadiel Rojas, Richard Bautista, Rigoberto Mendoza, Ángel Luís Delgado, Víctor Liz, Ángel Núñez, Luís Santos, Jean Montero, Eloy Vargas, Jhery Matos, Jassel Pérez and David Jones.
The game against Venezuela will be on Monday, 29 Barquisimeto, Venezuela.
The teams playing in Group E are Bahamas, Venezuela, Dominican Republic and Panama.
