
The Abinader administration delivered a request to Congress for RD$114 billion to be added to the 2022 budget. The new, trillion-peso budget will now be set, if approved, at RD$1,160,282,300,000.00.
According to the presidential request, this additional spending covers the “convulsive geopolitical situation” that has required government subsidies for over RD$70 billion: RD$33.7 billion on electricity and RD$40 billion on fuel). The subsidies sought to reduce the impact of rising external fuel costs on Dominicans and rising impact.
