
Foreign Relations Minister Roberto Alvarez received the letters of credence of the new ambassadors of Germany and the Netherlands. Both ambassadors expressed they will be working to strengthen the bonds between both countries. For their full accreditation, the diplomats still need to present their credentials to President Luis Abinader, the next step.
48-year old Maike Friedrichsen is the new German ambassador in the Dominican Republic. She is a career diplomat, lawyer with a MBA in international business from SIU Madrid and European Master in Law and Economics (EMLE), Universities of Aix-Marseille III /France, Ghent/Belgium, Hamburg/Germany.
Before her appointment to the Dominican Republic, Friedrichsen was Deputy Director for Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean at the German Foreign Office.
She has served at the German embassy in Nicaragua.
She was policy officer for international development policy for the World Bank and InterAmerican Development Bank when stationed at the Embassy of Germany in Washington, D.C.
Previously, she was responsible for bilateral relations with the United States and Canada for the German foreign office.
She is married and has two children.
On the same day, Fredrik Lammert Keurhorst presented credentials to the Minister of Foreign Relations Roberto Alvarez. Lammert Keurhorst is the new ambassador of The Netherlands. Before his position to the Dominican Republic, Lammert served as the Dutch ambassador in Malta.
He is married to Laura Elizabeth Keurhorst, an international consultant on Fragile & Conflict-Affected States, and National Security, and former UK diplomat.
