President Luis Abinader published Decree 502-22 ratifying Alejandro Fernandez Whipple as Superintendent of Banks. Fernandez Whipple made headlines last month for the privileged wage increases that have been incorporated into the position.
In the same decree, President Abinader appointed four new deputy ministers at the Ministry of Education. Last month, President Abinader named a new Minister of Education, replacing Roberto Furcal. Furcal was the focus for years of journalistic investigations into major corruption at the Ministry of Education.
The new deputy ministers named to the Ministry of Education are:
Ancell Scheker Mendoza as deputy minister for Technical and Pedagogical Services.
Francisco Germán D’Oleo, named deputy minister for Teacher Accreditation and Certification.
Ligia Jeanette Pérez Peña is named deputy minister for Decentralization and Participation.
Oscar Amargos is named deputy minister for Supervision and Quality Control of Education.
