Don’t expect to buy gasoline or diesel in Pedernales

As reported in El Nacional, the fuel scarcities in Haiti have resulted in Haitians purchasing all the stocks in the city of Pedernales gas stations on the Dominican border with Haiti.

El Nacional says the situation is affecting farm producers and fishermen in the area and the people who live in these communities.

Misael Pérez Díaz and fisherman Carlos Villar complained the gas stations sell out the stocks to the Haitians. Andy Pérez, speaking up for motorcycle taxis, told El Nacional reporters that the lack of authority is generating chaos in the fuel stations. He said the people of Pedernales are losing out to the people of Anse-au-Pitre, Haiti, who buy out all the inventory, leaving the stations without fuel for the locals.

Recently the two fuel stations in Pedernales were left without fuel, when Haitians bought all stocks, filling containers to take back by land and sea to Haiti.
