Construction input prices are dropping

The president of the Chamber of Commerce and Production of Santiago, Carlos Iglesias Rodríguez confirmed the reduction in the prices of construction materials. Rodríguez is also president of a large hardware store company, Grupo Bellón.

Rodríguez highlighted that rebar has dropped 11.72% compared to the highest price peak. He further noted that prices of other construction materials have also dropped compared to June 2021, citing drops from 33 to 10% in construction material prices.

The price of rebar has experienced a decrease in price in the last week ranging from 10,000 to 4,000 pesos per bundle, according to a survey conducted in several hardware stores in Santo Domingo.

Some representatives of the sector describe the reduction in the cost of the rebar as part of a downward trend in the price of steel and other construction materials.

Likewise, the president of the Association of Housing Developers and Builders of Cibao (Aprocovici), Alejandro Fondeur told Diario Libre that imported construction materials and freights are also dropping and are evidenced in the downward trend of construction input prices.
