The Dominican Republic won the Continental Open – Santo Domingo 2022 from 8 to 11 September 2022 at the Handball Pavilion of the Parque del Este in eastern Santo Domingo. Dominican judo athletes won 5 gold medals, 1 silver and four bronze. The top ten list included Venezuela, Colombia, Mexico and the United States, Cuba, Canada, Chile, Haiti and Puerto Rico.
Santo Domingo hosted the Panamerican Open 2022 with the participation of 18 countries from 3 continents and 190 competitors. 111 men and 79 women competed in events in seven categories.
The Panamerican Judo Confederation and the Dominican Judo Federation organized the events, qualifiers for the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.
The sports event featured the celebration of the Junior Pan American Cup (8 September 2022), the Cadet Pan American Cup (9 September 2022) and the Senior Pan American Open (10 and 11 September 2022).
