The Association of Hotels and Tourism of the Dominican Republic (Asonahores) announced its 34th Commercial Exposition will take place at the Blue Mall Punta Cana from 19 to 21 October 2022. There will be more than 400 national and foreign companies exhibiting their products and services.
Rafael Blanco Tejera, president of Asonahores, and Andrés Marranzini, executive vice president, together with Michelle de Prisco from Blue Mall Punta Cana and Deputy Minister of Tourism, Jacqueline Mora made the announcement of the trade show at the El Embajador Hotel.
Blanco Tejera pointed out that the hotel sector buys more than US$800 million annually from Dominican agricultural producers. He said that 90% of the farm products consumed in the hotels are sourced locally.
Ministry of Tourism statistics for August 2022 indicates more than 600,000 tourists arrived in the month. Foreign exchange earnings are estimated to be more than US$8 billion in 2022, result of more than 7 million arrivals in 2022.
The trade show presents exhibits of products and services, business roundtables, panels, workshops, and conferences on tourism, in a schedule from 10am to 7pm.
The main hall has a capacity for more than 3,000 people.
“As the most important trade fair of its kind in the country, the Asonahores Trade Show is an opportunity for hotels, restaurants and suppliers of goods and services to do business,” said Marranzini.
The tourism sector generates more than 170,000 direct jobs. There are more than 85 thousand hotel rooms in the country and another 89,000 in rental properties.
