Candidate to prime minister of Denmark is married to Dominican

Conservative Popular Party of Denmark leader of Denmark, 50-year old Soren Pape Poulsen is making headlines in the Dominican Republic now that it is known he is married to a Dominican, Josue Medina Vasquez. Poulsen, a strong contender for prime minister of Denmark, is criticized in the Danish media for visiting then President Danilo Medina when on holiday to the Dominican Republic in 2018.

It is that Poulsen since 2017 has been a couple with Dominican Josue Medina Vasquez. In 2018, they traveled as a couple to the Dominican Republic where they were received by then President Danilo Medina, then minister of foreign relations Miguel Vargas Maldonado. At the time, Soren Pape Poulsen was justice minister of Denmark.

The media in Denmark are digging up that then social affairs minister of Denmark Mai Mercado and then immigration minister Inger Stojberg, and deputy sports minister Frans Hjorth Hammer traveled with the Denmark justice minister and also met the Dominican President. Danish media reports that they met with the President without the involvement of the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs or even that of the Danish ambassador of the time.

Josue Medina Vasquez and Soren Pape Poulsen would marry in 2021.

Josue Medina Vasquez is a graduate of the Colegio Muñoz Rivera in Santo Domingo. The Danish media covering the story does not mention his higher education studies nor his profession.

The Danish media report the couple met in Brussels in 2013 and since 2014 has been a couple. In summer 2017, the couple announced they would marry and did so in 2021.

Poulsen has been the leader of his party following the resignation of Lars Barfoed in 2014. Now Poulsen is the leading candidate for prime minister of Denmark.
