The Danish press reports that leading candidate to Prime Minister of Denmark, Soren Pape Poulsen will divorce his Dominican husband. The couple had been together since 2013 and had married in 2021. Poulsen made the announcement on his Facebook page on 14 September 2022. The announcement follows weeks of Danish media probing into the personal life of the politician.
Diario Libre reported that Poulsen first met when Josué Medina Vásquez was an intern at the city council of the Danish city of Viborg, when Poulsen was mayor there in 2013.
Josué Medina Vasquez was born in 1985 in Venezuela and became a naturalized Dominican because his parents are from the Dominican Republic. He is described as an “entrepreneur” with a chain of stores in Denmark.
He is accused of misrepresenting himself as a nephew of former President Danilo Medina and as of Jewish origin. Before marrying, he did arrange for a meeting with then President Medina and his boyfriend at the Presidential Palace.
Writing on Facebook, Poulsen explained: “Some days are harder than others. Such a day is today. Josue and I are breaking up. There has been a lot written about my private life and more over a period of time. I don’t want to go into this any further, but simply say that we both agree that our marriage is over and wish each other the best on life’s journey.”
