
The Dominican Republic will be the co-host for seven sports for the Central America and the Caribbean Games next year in San Salvador, El Salvador from 23 June to 8 July 2022. The DR will host the taekwondo, modern pentathlon, equestrian, rowing, skeet, racquetball and field hockey events.
The same venues are being prepared to host the events here for the 2023 games will be used for the 25th Central American and Caribbean Games that the Dominican Republic will host in full in 2026 in Santo Domingo. The Organizing Committee for the Games was presented on Tuesday, 13 September 2022 during an event held at the Hotel Catalonia.

Jose Joaquin Puello Herrera, past president of the Dominican Olympic Committee and the Centro Caribe Sports (CCS/former Odecabe), is the permanent advisor.
Santo Domingo hosted the 12th Central American and Caribbean Games in 1974. The Juan Pablo Duarte Olympic Center was built for those Central American and Caribbean Games that would mark a before and after for sports in the Dominican Republic.
The last time the Central American Games were held in the Dominican Republic was in 1986, when Santiago served as the host city.
Santo Domingo would host the Panamerican Games in 2003 when new venues were built at the Mirador del Este Park.
