The 9th Dominican History Book Fair will take place this coming October at the headquarters of the General Archives of the Nation.
The fair is held to encourage reading and to contribute to the knowledge of national history for all Dominicans.
The cultural activity will take place from 24 to 28 October 2022.
The event’s central theme will be the local history of towns and communities. The event is dedicated to several authors who have compiled historical research on the towns and communities of the country.
The fair is honoring historic researchers Rafael Hernández, Welner Darío Feliz Oscar López Reyes, Edwin Espinal Hernández, Emelda Ramos, Rafael Darío Herrera, Carlos Julio Báez, Juan Ventura, Marcos Soto and Luis Efraím Baldrich.
Eleven history books will be released on the occasion of the event most the result of research sponsored by the National Archives or derived from documents now being made available at the archives. The AGN has more than 30 million documents online already.
This 9th edition will feature exhibitions, conferences, workshops, panels, documentaries and feature films, among others. All these activities will be free of charge and open to the public.
25 bookstores, publishing houses and authors will be selling their books at the fair.
The fair will be open to the public from 9am to 7 pm.
