2022 FIVB Volleyball Women’s World Championship update

The Dominican Republic put up a fight and yet lost to Turkey 3-2 (21-25, 25,-21, 25-18, 16-25, 15-13) in one of the most exciting matches in the first phase of the 2022 FIVB Volleyball Women’s World Championship taking place in the Netherlands and Poland. The Dominican Republic is ranked 8th in the world, Turkey is ranked 6th.
The DR will next play host Poland in Gdansk, Poland.

24 teams are participating in the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB)World Championship from 23 September to 15 October 2022. The teams are divided in four pools of six teams each. The DR (ranked 8th by FIVB) is playing in Pool B against Korea (ranked 24th), Turkey (ranked 6th), Poland (ranked 12th), Thailand (ranked 14th) and Croatia (ranked 22nd).

24 September: DR vs Korea (25-19, 25-12, and 25-15)

The top four teams from each of the four round-robin pools will advance to the second pool phase of the tournament. The two first wins by the DR guarantee the team moves to the second round.
