
The Dominican Republic made the top four of Pool B to move to round phase of the FIVB World Championship happening in Netherlands and Poland from 23 September to 15 October 2022. The top four teams in Pool B were Turkey, Thailand, Dominican Republic and Poland.
The DR defeated the host team, Poland and put up a great battle against Turkey (ranked 6th in the world) in a game that went to five sets. The DR fought it through but lost to the Thailand team that is on the roll. Thailand (ranked 14th by FIVB) also defeated Turkey (ranked 6th).
The DR is now one of 16 of the 24 national teams that started the 2022 FIVB Volleyball Women’s World Championship that will continue in the 19th edition of the tournament. The second phase will be played across six days, from October 4-9.
The next round of the tournament has two pools with eight teams each, from which the eight quarterfinalists will emerge. Pool E teams are Italy (#2), the Netherlands (#10), Belgium(#11), Puerto Rico (#17), China(#5), Japan (#7), Brazil (#3), and Argentina (#18). These teams will play in Rotterdam, Netherlands.
Pool F teams will be based in Lodz, Poland. These are Turkey (#6), Thailand(#13), the Dominican Republic (#9), Poland (#12), Serbia(#4), the United States (#1), Canada(#15) and Germany (#14).
