2022 FIVB Volleyball Women’s World Championship update

The Dominican Republic (ranked 9th) lost to Serbia (ranked 4th) with scores of 26-24, 25-20, 25-17 as the second phase of the 2022 FIVB Volleyball Women’s World Championship continued on 5 October 2022. In its 19th edition, the tournament is taking place from 4-9 October in Rotterdam, Netherlands and Lodz, Poland.

The DR is one of 16 of the 24 national teams that started the 2022 FIVB Volleyball Women’s World Championship. Eight quarterfinalists need to be chosen from the 16 remaining teams now playing the second phase.

The DR is competing against seven teams in Pool F. The teams are Turkey (#6), Thailand (#13), the Dominican Republic (#9), Poland (#12), Serbia(#4), the United States (#1), Canada(#15) and Germany (#14). These teams are playing in Lodz, Poland.

Pool E is made up by Italy (#2), the Netherlands (#10), Belgium (#11), Puerto Rico (#17), China(#5), Japan (#7), Brazil (#3), and Argentina (#18). These teams play in Rotterdam, Netherlands.

The Dominican Republic still has pending games against Germany (7 October) and Canada (8 October). It needs to win these games to move to the quarterfinals.
