
The Ministry of Culture announces the reopening of the Museum of Dominican Man has reopened after a four-year renovation process.
For the reopening, the Museum of Dominican Man is hosting the 8th Museum of Dominican Museum of Man Congress of Archaeology and Anthropology from 12 to 15 October 2022. The presentations are scheduled at the Museum of Modern Art in Plaza de la Cultura, Santo Domingo, next door to the Museum of Dominican Man. This year, the congress is dedicated to historian and economist Bernardo Vega. The program primarily focuses on presenting advances in important archaeological finds in recent years on the island.
The Museum of Dominican Man tells the story of the people living in the Dominican Republic. The Museum of Dominican Man is located in the Plaza de la Cultura cultural complex. The Museum was designed by architect José Antonio Caro Álvarez and was inaugurated in October 1973 during the Joaquin Balaguer administration. The opening marks the start of the 50th anniversary celebrations.
In a press release, The Ministry of Culture highlights the importance of museums as spaces for the promotion of culture and as recreational and learning experiences for locals and international tourists.

The Ministry says the museum is a permanent research center for researchers and scholars interested in anthropological information, such as on the customs of the pre-Columbian ethnic groups and the many manifestations of Dominican culture.
