Another major accident has ended with 18 persons injured on the Bulevar Turístico del Este on Wednesday, 19 October 2022. Noticias SIN reports that two are seriously injured. A truck transporting workers for a construction in the area rammed into a bus. The workers in the truck were said to be Haitian nationals. The accident occurred at the Cruce de Los Manantiales.
The victims were taken to the Punta Cana Medical Center, said Fireman Department director, Colonel Miguel Alvarez. He said the accident occurred around 5:30pm. Colonel Alvarez said that the truck transporting the Haitian workers collided with a yellow bus that was waiting for the traffic light to change to continue driving. He said three vehicles were impacted – a dump truck, the yellow bus and the truck that was transporting the Haitian workers.
Bruno Benítez, in charge of the Department of Risk and Disaster Management of the Council of Verón Punta Cana, said that all the injured were assisted by the National Health System, Public Works, Fire Department units, Digesett and other relief institutions.
