JCE alerts political parties on premature campaigns

The Central Electoral Board (JCE) has summoned the recognized political parties, groupings and movements to a meeting-commitment for the integrity of the 2024 elections on Thursday, 27 October 2022 at the JCE headquarters. The board of the JCE is concerned about increasing premature political campaigning by political parties.

In a statement, the electoral body points out that untimely campaigning seriously threatens electoral integrity. The JCE reminded the political parties that according to the Constitution, one of their essential purposes is to serve the national interest, the collective welfare and the integral social development.

“This plenary has the unresignable commitment to comply and enforce the electoral rules; to maintain confidence, electoral integrity and equal competition of political parties in the electoral process as a basis for democratic strengthening,” the text expresses.

The JCE summons the parties for this Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at the JCE headquarters.
